A year or two ago when he took a big step and left the barber shop where he’d worked for years to open his own shop, I happily “made the move” with Joseph, (as did nearly all of his other clients). Why? Well, not only is he a terrific guy who takes the time to get to know you, he’s also a terrific barber! Once you tell Joseph what you’re looking for in a haircut, he nails it, and he never forgets it. So if you’re looking for a new barber, I strongly encourage you to give him a shot. I’ve referred several of my coworkers to him and every single one has come back happy and has since become one of Joseph’s regular customers. Walked in from work after reading the other reviews, needed a quick trim. Joseph was the best, very attentive and gave me exactly what I looked for. Just took off a little bit off and fixed a previous cut. Everything I could have asked for, no BS hair wash and massage. Also straight razor cleaned up the neck line with warm foam, classic barber touch. Closed with offering a shave. Right to the point, expertly cut, and super cheap for midtown. (Chris G.)

I have been in Manhattan for 12 years and I have bounced around between $15 barbers that give a quick and inconsistent clipper cut and the $50-60 salons that give a shampoo and scissor cut with all of the annoying pageantry that is unbecoming a man. The Barber Shop on 56th provides exactly the service that I have been looking for and that every man needs. It’s a world class haircut at a fair price from the best barber that I have ever worked with. Joseph and his team listen to exactly what you say, and then execute the haircut with the precision of a serious craftsman. I get a world class scissor haircut (clippers when I want them) and a neck shave for a little more than $20. FINALLY, a happy medium for men. First class haircut from the best in town without having to resort to salon prices and other nonsense. I highly recommend these guys to all of my coworkers and it’s obvious that Joseph is building one heck of a business in the heart of Midtown. (John P.)
